Also sowas wie geöffnete engine cowlings etc.

(don´t hesitate to ask for words you don´t understand ;))

Vielen Dank, schöne Grüße und weiter bauen! 8-)

Hello Betasingh,

It is always nice to see that this forum is international and having friends in civilian aircraft .
By coincident I have kicked off my "B747-8F Cargolux with gear down" - project this weekend and I try to go for a building report as well (but then in german).
So after all, it´s quite similar to the LH kit, but has less windows ;).
However, please don´t get me wrong: the engine parts are small and flimsy, that require a certain degree of experience.
There is a reason, why this kit has the highest skill level. So the assembly is demanding and might cause a risk of beeing overwhelmed by frustation for a newcomer.
Please indicate that state and probably it is good invested money to gather some experience for this plastic kit topic by assemble a less demanding kit, A320 or B737 for example,
before you start with you presented project.
But with Mechanic and me ready for your questions, we hopefully should keep the show going :D.
If no other joins in as well...

Cheers, MoonLoon

Let me know, if you want that in English. :D

Hello Betasingh!

The very first thing about making models is time doesn´t matter! In order to get well result I stop working on it since have lost enthusiasm  :D  . Let´s start with small steps. At least it depends on  how long the clue as well as the coating needs to dry out.

Today I started the model kit. I think the question about the first step is somewhat special.
1. cleaning -> primer -> withe coat but finish it will be the last step bevor decal!-> cockpit, windows, wheelwell, apu exhaust -> bonding of fuselage shells...
2. yes you will need more than one layer of  coat and it´s considered to use a paint system from one supplier.
3. revell clue is pretty fast but it depends also on temperature and humidity. I guess you should take a minimum of 30 min into account.
4. Mostly I apply the solvent after I have set the decals into the model.
4.1 I cut the right decal out of the sheet
4.2 put it in warm water for appr. 10 min until its possible to slide it on the sheet.
4.3 carefully slide the decal on to the surface
4.4 slide it on its  final position and carefully wipe off the remaining water
4.5 apply plenty of decal softer on the right decal to get best result.

For more question, have a look to the building blog
kind regards

Hello Mechanic,

Hello betasingh,

GREETINGS!

Yes please start your report of manufacturing!
Upload your current progress and we were able to update you with advice related to your questions.

At this time I assembled wings, fuselage and horizontal stabilizer completly.

To bond the fuselage shells apply plenty of clue on its edge. It is recommanded to apply the clue only at one of the two fuselage shells. After this put the shells together. The vertical fin ought to be fixed by two clamps while the bonding point/edge shall be fixed with tape at some points. The cockpitwindow will be fixed after the fuselage was fixed.

I agreed with the pretty good precision of the fuselage. It was very easy to bond without any problems.

I guess it will take me another 4 days until complition. So two weeks should be enough time.

Next step on my model will be smoothing the bondingedge on the fuselage.
I will use a small file and fine sandpaper. After it was satisfactory I start with painting/brushing for the second time. For this I will tape the windows with long stripe of tape. Its a little difficult, but once you have made it well the result will be very good indeed. I will show it on the blog.

regards
